Department of Respiratory Medicine

01What we do

Tadashi Ishida
Director
Tadashi Ishida

This department handles a wide-range of conditions, including tumors, infection, allergies, immune and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Respiratory medicine is a field closely involved in emergency medicine, in which respiratory care for both emergency hospitalization and the ICU is often required. As such, it demands wide-ranging and practical clinical ability, with our department working rigorously to achieve this as part of a multifaceted approach to treatment spanning across all departments. Furthermore, we consider it essential in this department to increase our knowledge of all areas of medicine in order to avoid any bias towards specialization.

From a clinical perspective, we constantly aim towards being able to respond to all respiratory conditions, and also at the same time work towards advancing clinical research. Currently we are putting our efforts into a multi-disciplinary approach for the diagnosis and treatment of conditions including respiratory infectious diseases, lung cancer and interstitial pneumonia. We also are active in contributing literature to both domestic and international medical journals and also at making presentations amongst conferences throughout Japan and the world, making our department one of many groups within the hospital which actively pursues a global approach to medicine.
